A hurricane is coming to the East Coast! As a kid I read A LOT OF BOOKS (I wish I still did) and immersed myself in a lot of Jean Craighead George and Gary Paulsen books. Perhaps I read too many of these foraging-for-food-in-the-wilderness books because I find myself now getting somewhat excited at the prospect of a hurricane, despite knowing much better.
I mean, I don’t actually want anything bad to happen, but the fantasy of surviving in nature still persists. Never mind the fact that I hate insects that bite me & have a phobia of sharp objects (axes, knives, etc) and you know, can’t live a day without my precious Internet. My animal flesh and soul has softened with too much wine and too many tuxedos, but I still dream I could make it in an apocalypse.
