I’ve gone back to the Ghadibalo project, and I’m trying out digital methods of drawing. It’s working out all right, I guess!
This woman’s name is Mildred R. Swerakcilhi Ghadibalo-Zzzzarw. She is 100% Ghadibalan but after a trip to England in 1850, Mildred decided to dress in English-style clothing. This portrait was originally drawn by a famous Ghadibalan painter (name is somehow unknown, but rumor is he made his own mineral paints by scrubbing rocks on a nearby cave and collecting the dust in the many pockets of his parachute-like trousers), and this is my digital rendition.
This is a portrait of my friend JACK dressed up as a member of Newsies with Paris Hilton in the background. It’s going to be part of my upcoming portraits zine, which will debut at the DC Zine Fest at the end of the month.
In the zine, the question of WHY EXACTLY Jack is dressed up as a member of Newsies and is saluting Paris Hilton’s back will all be explained. I will be sitting at a half-table as part of the “Booger Mtn” collective. Zia and BigZom and anybody who else wants to join (holla at me!) will be there. I will try to drink lots of Red Bull beforehand so that I will appear animated and friendly instead of morose and sleepy.
In life/drawing news, I am busy working on a lot of drawings right now for several projects. I hope to reward myself with rapidograph pens after I’m done, if it doesn’t seem too expensive. Also, I am still agonizing over the sunglasses I broke a couple of weeks ago. I go through about 2-3 pairs of sunglasses because I am a cheapww**(a and am careless to boot, but the sight of an injured pair of sunglasses still hurts.
